Scenic 4-mile Mountain Hike; Mt. Wismer, Barrett Twnsp
Details
Let's meetup to take in one of the most spectacular, yet unknown, views of the Poconos. Mt. Wismer and Gravel Family Nature Preserve is located in Barrett Township about 20 miles from Stroudsburg. Total hiking distance is around 4 miles and duration of 2 hours, including our stop at the top to take in the views.
This hike entails steep and mountainous terrain, but I would call it more moderate than strenuous. The trail is mostly wooded on the way up, until you reach the summit, which provides beautiful views down the Poconos, across the Brodhead Creek watershed. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Delaware Water Gap.
Only those confident in their hiking abilities should attend. Proper hiking shoes and equipment is required. Bring water, snacks, and a hat.
We will meet at the Barrett Township Dog Park parking lot no later than 9:15 and will begin hiking at 9:30 SHARP. We can arrange carpooling from town, if there is interest. Leave a comment to get the conversation started. We can also discuss a lunch outing for afterwards.
