What Defines You?
When someone asks, "Who are you?", how do you answer?

Many of us define ourselves by our careers, achievements, relationships, interests, or personal values. But what happens when these things change?

What really defines a person?

• Is your identity something you create, or something you discover?
• How much should your achievements or failures shape how you see yourself?
• Can we have a stable sense of self in a constantly changing world?

This week at IQ Cafe, we'll explore these questions together.

After a short introduction, we'll break into small groups for open discussion.

Come share your thoughts, hear different perspectives, and enjoy meaningful conversation in a relaxed and respectful environment. Everyone is welcome!

🕒 Schedule:
8:00-8:20 - Listen to a bilingual lecture on the night's topic while enjoying snacks and coffee
8:20-9:00 - Discussion in small groups
Afterwards - Stick around and hang out with new friends!

What is IQ Cafe?
IQ Cafe is a place that wants to create a space for you to think deeply.
We think it's a shame how many people go through life without reflecting on things that matter. It’s important to take the time to think about the difficult questions in life. It can be easy to live your life and just go through the motions.

The presentations at IQ Cafe are always bilingual because we want you to be able to practice Japanese and English! For the discussion time, there are tables with English and Japanese available. Let's practice language together!

We have Bilingual events every Thursday night at 8pm in Harajuku! We look forward to seeing you there!

私たちは仕事や実績、人間関係、趣味、価値観などによって自分を定義することがあります。しかし、それらが変わったとき、私たちは何者なのでしょうか。私たちのアイデンティティは、自分の行動や他人からの評価によって決まるのでしょうか。

では、人を本当に定義するものとは何でしょうか。

• アイデンティティは自分で作り上げるものなのでしょうか。それとも発見するものなのでしょうか。
• 成功や失敗は、自分自身の見方にどれほど影響を与えるべきでしょうか。
• 変化し続ける世界の中で、私たちは安定した自己認識を持つことができるのでしょうか。

今週のIQ Cafeでは、これらの問いについて一緒に考えます。短い導入の後、少人数のグループに分かれて自由に話し合います。
リラックスした雰囲気の中で、自分の考えを共有し、さまざまな視点に耳を傾けながら、有意義な対話を楽しみましょう。
