After the Investigation: Holding Broken Institutions Accountable

Details
You work for months on an investigation, expose a large institution--say, a school district--for failing to protect children, and within days the leaders promise changes and reform. Success, right? But what happens next? How do you continue to hold the subject of your investigation accountable in the months or years after you publish, and ensure that the promised reforms actually fix the problems you uncovered? Reporters David Jackson and Juan Perez, Jr., from the Chicago Tribune, and Sarah Karp, from WBEZ, will discuss how they have followed up their investigations into sexual assault and special education, respectively, at Chicago Public Schools and continued to hold the district accountable long after their initial investigations.
Thanks to the Chicago Tribune for hosting this month's meetup. RSVPs are required
