Join us in a close read of the THIRD part of Henry the Sixth, as we carry on with Shakespeare’s amazing series of history plays.

In 1 Henry 6, just about everything Henry 5 won through war in France is now lost. In 2 Henry 6, the royal court is torn apart with jealous factions and personal squabbles, and the young King is unable to control them. We see the rise of the Duke of York and we meet a couple of his sons (the future Edward 4 and Richard 3 in the play Richard the Third). Now in this third part, we begin the Wars of the Roses. The battle between the houses of York and Lancaster continues, with much bloodshed, leading to the eventual death of Henry 6 and the reign of the house of York.

We read slowly and carefully, digging in to find the substance. No one is required to read—feel free to listen and discuss.
