What we’re about
Attention!!...Donation!
From Monday 3rd November 2025 a yearly Donation of €25 is requested from members…as organising these Meet-ups takes time, energy and resources!
Your 'year’ commences on the date of your ‘Donation’…There are three ways in which you can make this ‘Donation’… (1) Revolut…(2) make a payment via IBAN…(3) in cash at your next event…please contact me for Revolut/IBAN details...No Exceptions!!
As there is a 'sea' of hiking groups available to the general public...you are very welcome to hike with a group of your choice
Contributing a ‘Donation’ does not guarantee a place on all hikes…as I do not organise hikes for very large groups…my cut off is normally around 20…should such an amount sign up for a hike…also some hikes will be too strenuous for some people…so we will need to be somewhat selective for such hikes!
As we would organise an average of 6/8 hikes monthly I’ve no doubt there will be plenty of hikes for one to choose from on a regular basis!
We will hike regularly and have a laugh and chat…This is a supportive friendly group…These hikes will take place in Wicklow and sometimes in the many other mountainous areas around the country…We will take day trips to The Mourne Mountains…The Cooley Mountains in Carlingford…The Galty Mountains…The Commeragh Mountains…The Slieve Bloom Mountains…and weekend trips further afield…and an odd trip abroad!
Hikes organised to mountain ranges outside of the Wicklow/Dublin mountains and abroad are open only to those members that regularly support the group with their attendance and who the Organiser is familiar with...The final decision rests with the Organiser for such Events!
Hike Levels
While the pace of hikes will be moderate to very brisk at times, it is very important to have a reasonable level of fitness…The hikes will be graded...from 1 to 5+...Level 1 being the easiest Level that we do!...The plan is to cover most levels so to encourage people to get out and hike
There will be weekend hikes (taken place mostly on Sundays)... and midweek evening hikes (taken place mostly on Wednesday or Thursday evenings)...On the dark evenings...you will require...and must have your own head torch...then there will be odd midweek day hike
Every hiker should pack their backpack in accordance with the weather forecast and conditions!…Having the following items are a guide line: sun glasses/sun protection,,,an extra layer or two…a hat…scarf…waterproof gloves…waterproof/gortex type jacket…waterproof trousers…gaiters…waterproof boots…preferably full leather boots for winter hiking with ankle support 🥾🥾 food/snacks/water/liquids of your choice…a First Aid kit...a head torch during the Winter months...As a hiker becoming unwell on the mountains poses a risk not only to themselves but also to the group as a whole…the hike organiser has the right to refuse any person who has not got clothing suitable for winter hikes…The organiser will take every precaution to ensure a safe hike…but…it is important to note that by signing up to a hike with this group you accept total responsibility for your own health and safety while attending an event/hike…The Organiser/Organisers are not professionals…and therefore cannot be held accountable for your personal health and safety…however it is recommended that you join Mountaineering Ireland for a fee as little as €41.25 for anyone over 26 years of age…which includes a Personal Insurance Policy…and more!
This group is open to anyone over the age of 18 with a reasonable level of fitness and who wants to explore the mountains while getting to meet new people
To join this group you must upload a profile of your good self...your face must be visible...it does not have to be an individual photo of yourself...you in a small group will suffice...though you do need to indicate to me which is you
Upon being accepted into the group…you fail for whatever reason to attend an event within your first six months of membership…the Organisers will have the right to terminate your membership and remove you from the group…as you will be deemed an ‘Inactive Member’…also if you fail to attend a Meetup within the 12 months of your last appearance…you may also find yourself…reluctantly…removed from the group...you are very welcome to reapply for membership should you wish to!
