Perseid Paddle on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage

Details

The clouds messed up our chances of a full moon paddle this month, but the Perseid Meteor Shower will peak on Tuesday, and conditions are supposed to be good for viewing, so let's get out on the water! Everyone is welcome. We will meet at Sturgeon Bay Landing, ready to paddle at 8 p.m. Once the colors leave the sky, we will watch for meteors in the darkening sky. The moon won't rise until 9:44 p.m., actually later by the time it clears the treetops, so we should have plenty of darkness. Be sure to bring an extra jacket for the cool night air.

To reach Sturgeon Bay Landing from Mercer, take Hwy 51 north to Club 51. Turn left onto County FF and drive 5 miles. Turn left onto Popko Circle WEST and drive about 2.7 miles, and you'll see the big DNR sign for Sturgeon Bay Landing on your right. See you there!
