Loony Paddlers (women) will paddle Crooked Lake in the Sylvania Wilderness

Details
I am looking forward to a paddle on Crooked Lake this week! It's expected to be much warmer than last week (thank goodness!) and with light winds. And did you notice that those cold nights pulled the trigger on the trees turning color? Suddenly there is much to see in the changing of seasons! We will meet at the Crooked Lake Landing at 9:00 a.m. To reach the landing from Mercer, take County J east to the end. Turn left onto Cty W to Presque Isle. Turn left again, onto Cty B and then M-64 to Marenisco. Continue straight onto Kimberly Rd, then turn right onto Hwy 2. From there it is 21.7 miles to Thousand Island Lake Road, where you will turn right. It is about 1.5 miles to the entrance to Sylvania. Follow the signs to Crooked Lake.
Although the registration station will likely be closed, there is a $5.00 parking fee, so you will need to self-register. They will honor a Federal Senior Pass, so have it ready to record the number on your registration and then you can leave it on your dash, signature side up. Please pack a lunch. We will probably grab our lunches and hike across a portage, either to Mountain Lake or High Lake, to eat them at another lake. Since the drive from Mercer is a little more than an hour, the carpool will meet at Carow Park at 7:45 a.m. When you sign up, please indicate if you will meet us at the landing or at Carow for the carpool.
