Balsam Lake Mountain

Balsam Lake Mountain is one of the Catskill 35 and its summit has a fire tower, which is on the list of the NYS Fire Tower challenge.
We will start from the east and hike the Alder Lake trail around Alder Lake and then use the Mill Brook trail to the summit. The trail will pass the Beaver Meadow lean-to and offers views at higher elevation as well as the summit. Its an adventurous route with some ups and downs along the shoulder of Balsam Lake Mt.
Round trip distance is 13.4 miles and elevation gain is 1520 feet.
