EAT, DRINK & LEARN: ‘SALAMANDERS & SOURS’ at Irvine Nature Center
Details
Salamanders & Sours
For the past three years Dr. Mark Norris and his students at Stevenson University have been surveying red-backed salamanders at Irvine and Stevenson. While they are considered very common in eastern forests, their research shows that these amphibians exist in very limited locations. Join Dr. Norris to learn more about the secretive salamander and how he is trying to decipher why these patterns exist.
Dr. Mark Norris is a Professor of Biology and Environmental Science at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Maryland. He holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resources Science and Management from the University of Minnesota, an M.S. in Biology from Kansas State University, and a B.S. in Environmental Science from Allegheny College. Dr. Norris’s research focuses on ecosystem ecology, restoration ecology, and the effects of land-use change on soil and plant communities.
