Architecture & logistics: Supply chain technology and modular warehouse systems

Details

We're excited to announce our first meetup of 2024!

This evening, we will dive into supply chain and warehouse technology from a software architecture point of view.
Are you intrigued by the pivotal role of modern technologies in supporting swift and reliable deliveries? Follow the fascinating journey of a banana or a tractor spare part from point A to B, and delve into the technological challenges overcome to make this seamless process a reality.
Engage with our speakers to gain insights into the architectural complexity and warehousing operations within supply chain processes, offering a unique perspective on how monitoring and understanding these changes can revolutionize e-commerce industry.

Both sessions will be presented in English; RSVP now for an evening of learning and fun!

The meetup will be hosted at the Kramp Tech Office in Utrecht (Jaarbeursplein 6, The JIM - 6th floor), next to Utrecht Central station.

Agenda
18:00 - 18:30 Indonesian buffet: Grab some delicious buffet, mingle with other tech enthusiasts, and sip on a refreshing drink before we start the evening.

18:30 - 18:40 Welcome and introduction.

18:40 - 19:25 First Talk: Keep the farmers farming with innovative supply chain technology (Lucian Nica, Kramp).
With more than 1 million of products in the assortment, Kramp is the leading European supplier of spare parts for agriculture machinery. Modern and reliable technologies are key in supporting farmers with fast and reliable delivery. Kramp architects will take you through the journey of how the complex and efficient Supply Chain network is supported by a series of smart technologies, a mix of own developments and off the shelf solutions.
Let's follow the journey of a tractor spare part together from the producer in Italy to the impatient farmer in Norway, and what technological challenges were taken to make this possible.

19:25 - 19:45 - Break

19:45 - 20:30 Second talk: The banana split: moving to modular warehouse systems (Sjoerd Cranen, Picnic).
With Picnic, you can order a banana and get it delivered at home. In this talk we dive a bit deeper into the systems that support your banana’s journey, and in particular we will zoom in on our warehousing operations. We will show how our focus has changed over time, and how that influenced our architecture: from selling a banana, to delivering a banana, to delivering many bananas, to putting a banana on a roller coaster, to supporting a diverse range of systems and people juggling bananas, all controlled from the cloud. We will of course also highlight some challenges and practical consequences of this journey for our software, UX design, operations, and organization.

20:30 - 21:00 Expand your network! Wrap up the evening with fresh insights & new connections.
