Transform Your Search Capabilities in PostgreSQL with AI

Details
We are back!
Join us at the next Postgres User Group meeting in Islamabad on September 11, 2024. Meet others in your local area interested in PostgreSQL and discuss all things open source!
About the Event
The main focus of this meetup will be the talk presented by Semab Tariq (PostgreSQL consultant, Stormatics) titled "Transform Your Search Capabilities in PostgreSQL with AI".
Traditional searches using keywords face challenges with increasing data volumes and complexity. This presentation explores a new approach to information retrieval: combining AI and PostgreSQL pgvector to tap into the deeper meaning of data.
We will explore the realm of vector databases, especially pgvector, which represent information based on meaning, not just keywords. We will discover why PostgreSQL, along with its potent pgvector extension, is an ideal combination for building advanced search engines.
Key topics to be covered include:
- Introduction to pgvector and various embedding models
- Shifting from keyword-centric to meaning-based searches
- Unveiling the internal architecture of pgvector indexes
- Harnessing the potential of parallel index support, specifically with Hierarchical Navigable Small World (HNSW)
- Comparative analysis of query execution times: non-indexed vs. IVFFLAT vs. HNSW indexed queries
- Enhancing contextual understanding and response quality through Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Real-world applications and success stories of pgvector
When: September 11, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM PKT
Where: xFlow Research (Pvt.) Ltd, Plot No.156, Block B, Basement, Software Technology Park, Service Road North, Sector I-9/3, Islamabad. 44000
You should join us if you are a:
Developer, data analyst, data scientist, or anyone interested in leveraging AI for data exploration and retrieval
Notes:
- Registration Fee: PKR 500 per person. Free for Xflow folks.
