Call of Cthulhu

A team of paranormal investigators who run a popular YouTube channel are planning to illegally visit an island off the coast of Sicily. They hope to broadcast live as they attempt to uncover evidence of a genuine haunting. The goal, naturally, is to cement themselves as legitimate and thus become Internet sensations. All goes well until they find that their ride off the island has disappeared, and they begin to see more than dust orbs and blurred photos. They soon learn that there may be someone or something… else on the island, and that the history of the place may be darker than they could have ever imagined.

This will be a modern-day 7th edition Call of Cthulhu scenario for five investigators. There are pre-generated characters available, and a pre-generated name and styling for the YouTube channel, however we can also come up with our own characters and team!

This session will be in person, however if there is more interest than capacity a second virtual session will be set up!

Please be aware, plague is a topic in this adventure. The island the team visits did take in plague victims, and sickness is a theme in this adventure. This is a horror game, but we're intending horror for the characters more than the players. If you have any particular concerns about plague content, body horror, or anything else you're worried might come up let me know before we begin.

Please bring dice, a pencil and paper for notes! Since we're starting around lunchtime, let me know your thoughts on food. We could get some food together, but everyone will need to note their dietary requirements and preferences!

Pregen Options:

There are five pregenerated characters! Below is some light detail -- if one appeals to you, take it! If you want to change anything about the character (name, some light details, gender anything!) you can, of course, but if you want to mess deeper with strengths and weaknesses we might need a new character sheet. If you have a strong idea for a from scratch character you would much prefer, let me know -- but we will have to sort that all out well clear of the event so it doesn't take up time on the day!

Marco ‘Proudfoot’ Maglioni
Marco is only about a sixteenth Cherokee, but he uses the name Proudfoot because he thinks it’s cool and makes him sound more “spiritually connected to his roots and shit.” Unfortunately, Marco is not big on reading so he has never realized that the name suggestion was a prank by a Tolkien fan. Italian-American with very wealthy parents, total narcissist, true believer in the paranormal who appears confident but would likely not be in the moment. You are the face of the channel, you have catchphrases.

Corrina Trench
New age cult survivor who doesn't like to talk about it. Believes in crystals, auras, all that kind of thing. Considers herself a professional Medium. Sadly – at least for her – she’s as spiritually connected as a teapot. Good actress, confidently states nonsense. Can cry on command. Smart enough to look up the history of a place beforehand, while pretending she knows nothing. Is afraid of being thought a fraud and fired from the channel, which leads her to make things up.

Enoch Jeremiah Eakins
An absolute bear of a man who was hired by Marco as a bodyguard and investigator, just in case they ever get into danger with people as opposed to the supernatural. Ex-Amish, his community thought he was 'touched by the devil'. Smarter than he looks, and gentle and kind, Enoch has The Sight -- but has not told the Krew. He doesn't fully understand it, and puts a lot of his strange experiences down to drink and drugs.

Peter Wharton
A career criminal and former heroin addict who fell into his current job as cameraman for Spektral Krew when he went to sell a stolen laptop and digital camera to Marco. A man of few words, and borderline Kleptomaniac, Peter regularly plants fake evidence in an effort to keep the channel going -- and thus the cash flowing for him too. Fishing line to move things off camera, palming small objects and leaving them in other places, then spotting them with shock on his face, leaving superchat messages on the stream pointing out his ‘activity’
using a false account -- Peter knows all the tricks and little is below him if it gets views.

Ku Hyeon
A South Korean exchange student who studied in the US. Producer, go-to tech guy, sound engineer, Hyeon even sets up and directs the shots but regularly appears on camera and is the cynic of the Krew. He is honest to a fault and always speaks his mind from a logical standpoint, almost to the point of coming across as argumentative. He has yet to see or experience anything that he would 100% call paranormal and is almost belligerently disagreeable, especially with Corrina. His parents do not approve of his job, and he is constantly rejecting calls from them.
