WEBINAR: Can We Make IPv4 Great Again?

Abraham Y. Chen will present his EzIP proposal to reinvigorate the diminishing pool of IPv4 addresses.

EzIP (phonetic for Easy IPv4) is a scheme that multiplies the existing IPv4 public address pool by 256M times, while not disturbing the Key Internet components, namely, the CR (Core Router), the ER (Edge Router) and the RG (Routing Gateway).

This is achieved by implementing a new type of IPv4 compatible functional module (could be stand-alone hardware, or enhancement to existing firmware or software), named SPR (Semi-Public Router), inline between an ER and its RG, to transport the addresses from the "Reserved for Future Use" 240/4 block as the payload in a conventional IP header between a pair of end SPRs , for carrying out the additional routing service.

The SPR may be deployed locally, such as on national or regional basis, where needed.

Abraham Y. Chen

Mr. Chen has forty years of experience in communications and computer industries, including major R&D organizations such as RCA Sarnoff Lab, Lincoln Lab, Raytheon, Bell Labs, and Bell Northern Research, focusing on cellular telephone, satellite radio,military ground station, PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network), and PBX (PrivateBranch eXchange), respectively. He specializes in the design and implementation of data network, wireless engineering, and telephone systems for residential settings, and has a nin-depth knowledge in SOHO (Small Office Home Office) environments. Abe is a seasoned innovator in the communications field with eleven US and four foreign patents granted.

Abe holds BS degree in Electrophysics from National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan,and MS & EE degrees in EE from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He is currently the VP of Engineering, Avinta Communications, Inc., Milpitas, CA,manufacturer of SOHO communication networking system. Before Avinta, he was Chief Operating Officer & VP, Product Development, Teletronics International, Inc., Rockville,MD, where he implemented a long range small wireless PABX for rural areas. Earlier hewas VP, Areanex Technology, Inc., Cupertino, CA, developer of SOHO and Home-Automation PABX. In the payphone deregulation years, he was Director of Engineering, Tatung Telecom Corp., Palo Alto, CA, in charge of smart payphone products.

Abe has recently gotten involved with the design of smart electric meters at DVE Powers,Fremont, CA, which adds another facet to his technical skills.
