    Date: Wednesday, Nov 19, 2025
    ֿTime: 18:00–20:00
Location: Tikal Offices, 6 Kremenetski St, 1st Floor, Tel Aviv
*The meetup will be held in Hebrew

When scale meets real-time and AI, database architecture becomes a strategic decision that defines your system’s performance and flexibility.
In this meetup, we’ll explore how to build data infrastructure that meets the demands of AI-driven workloads - from choosing the right architecture to enabling real-time intelligence in production systems.

    On the Agenda

    18:00–18:30 → 🍕 Networking & Refreshments

18:30–19:00Databases at the Crossroads of Scale, Real-Time, and AI
Zohar Elkayam, Solutions Architect @ Aerospike

Choosing the right database has become a real challenge in today’s AI-driven world. With so many architectures and models to choose from, it’s easy to end up with a system that doesn’t really fit your actual workload.
In this talk, we’ll break down what really matters when evaluating databases - from how data consistency affects performance, to the trade-offs between vertical and horizontal scaling, and what happens when you design for multi-region environments. We’ll also look at access patterns like key-value and document stores, and discuss how replication and durability choices can impact both reliability and speed.
As AI workloads demand low latency, huge scale, and constant adaptability, these decisions become more critical than ever. Instead of focusing on a single technology or “one right answer,” Zohar will share a clear, practical framework for comparing database types and making the right call for your needs. He’ll walk through real-world examples of common mistakes, successful migrations, and lessons learned that can help any engineering team improve performance, resilience, and overall efficiency.

    19:00–19:30Powering AI with Real-Time Data
Yoav Nordmann, Backend Architect, Tech & Group Lead @ Tikal
Behind every successful AI system lies a modern data foundation.
In this talk, Yoav will explore how the Modern Data Stack, with technologies like Apache Iceberg, OLAP, and Data Lakes, enables teams to prepare and serve data efficiently for AI and GenAI workloads.
We’ll look at how organizations can move from static datasets to dynamic, real-time architectures that keep models continuously updated and relevant. Through practical examples, Yoav will show how adopting Iceberg-based architectures helps manage large-scale, evolving data while maintaining consistency, performance, and flexibility — making real-time AI not just possible, but practical.

19:30–20:00Milliseconds Matter: Real-Time Bidding at Massive Scale
    David Levy, Data Specialist @Perion
In the world of ad tech, every millisecond counts.
This talk explores how real-time systems process millions of ad requests per second while maintaining ultra-low latency and high reliability.
We’ll walk through the architecture behind large-scale user profiling, split-second bid decisioning, and performance optimization, showing how real-time infrastructure directly impacts revenue and competitiveness.
Drawing from Perion’s real-world experience, this session reveals what it takes to operate at true internet scale, where milliseconds aren’t just technical details, they’re business drivers.
