Welcome to the Appalachian Mountain Club Delaware Valley Chapter (AMC-DV)!
AMC-DV is one of the Philadelphia region’s largest, oldest, and most active outdoor clubs, with 800+ outdoor-related activities each year (most are free!). Join us on one of our many events and trips in and around the Greater Philadelphia area, the Lehigh Valley, New Jersey, Delaware, and beyond. Activities and trips include hiking, paddling, backpacking, biking, trail maintenance, conservation, outdoor education, and more. All activities are led by trained and experienced leaders! Our chapter is part of the national Appalachian Mountain Club, which offers a wide range of trips on the East Coast and beyond.

Finding AMC Delaware Valley Activities
Not all AMC-DV activities are posted here on Meetup. To explore all DV activities for hiking, backpacking, biking, trail maintenance, and more, visit DV Monthly Activities. A Google calendar view of DV activities will display. Or, for more detailed listings, visit the AMC Outdoors Connector activities finder.
To find outdoors opportunities in NJ, NY, and New England, visit https://activities.outdoors.org/s/? to view all activities of all chapters.
What make our MeetUp activities different?
There are a lot of great MeetUp groups out there to choose from. A key thing that sets AMC-DV apart from some of them is that our activity leaders undergo training and are experienced outdoors people who volunteer their time and expertise. Their goal: to share fun, friendly and safe outdoors experiences. While safety is their primary concern, participants must also accept risk and responsibility for their own safety.

Here’s the program information:
HOW LONG IS THE AT (Appalachian Trail)?
The answer (2200 miles) in no way really gets close to the correct answer, since it leaves out so much of what makes the trail what it is. We would like to spend this meeting giving some history of the part people living here in the Delaware Valley Chapter have played (and still play) in developing and maintaining the trail. We also want to honor those in our Chapter who have hiked the entire trail by showing a few photos of their hike and hearing a bit about what the journey meant to them.
You may be pleasantly surprised to see how many DV Chapter members have actually hiked the entire trail, and to see many of them in person at this meeting!
Information on upcoming outdoor events will be available.5 partecipanti
