Join us for the third season of Weeknight Walks in Yardley - now on Tuesday nights!

As in the past, we will take a brisk walk through the picturesque Yardley Borough as well as on the historic Delaware Canal path. Our 4 – 5-mile walk will highlight some of the places that make Yardley special, including a Victorian-era Library at Lake Afton and a small stretch of Main Street.

Most of the route will be on relatively flat streets or on the very walkable canal path. However, there will be one steep incline towards the end of the walk, just before a short downhill that returns us to our starting point at Buttonwood Park.

For those who are hungry after the walk, there are plenty of places to grab a bite in Yardley.

Location
We will meet at the large open shelter in the middle of Buttonwood Park.
Public parking is available adjacent to Buttonwood Park; there is also street parking available around the corner on Penn Valley Drive. Be careful to only park in locations marked as public parking.

Hiking Rim to Rim in Wissahickon Valley Park may not offer the same 'bragging rights' as a rim to rim hike of the Grand Canyon, but it will surely provide you with beautiful scenery, a rewarding hike on both sides of Wissahickon Creek, wonderful views, and a great coffee stop! We will visit some of the 'less travelled' trails in the park as we start on the east side rim in Carpenters Woods, cross the creek to reach the west side rim at the 100 steps, and then cross over Lincoln Drive to visit the trails along the 'third rim' at the southern end of the park. We will take a detour off the trail for a mid hike coffee break at Wirlybird Coffee (part of Wissahickon Brewing Company)before finishing up back on the east side of the creek.

Trails are rocky and there are hills! We will keep a moderate pace. Anticipated hike time 3.5 - 4.5 hours depending on the pace of the group.

Bring along plenty of water and snacks and dress for the weather. Steady rain cancels - if in doubt please check status by 6:30am the day of the hike or contact leader with questions.

Logistics - we will meet at the corner of Greene Street and S Mount Pleasant Road. There is street parking in the vicinity. No rest rooms until the coffee shop so please plan accordingly.

Looking to start a new fitness routine? Prefer the outdoors to the gym? If so, we have the perfect evening walk for you.
We’ll meet twice per month at the tennis courts in Memorial Park, Lower Makefield Township (Yardley), PA. You can choose to join us for a one-mile loop around this unique park or continue for a second mile through an attractive local neighborhood. If you are feeling extra ambitious, you can stick with us for a third lap around Memorial Park – this time in reverse.
We will return to the tennis courts after each lap, so it’s your choice – you can walk a total of 1, 2 or 3+ miles – whatever is best for you!
The walk will be primarily on flat, paved trails or on sidewalks. There may be a few times where we walk through very short stretches of grass. The plan is to walk at an easy, social pace, with the possibility of increasing the pace over the course of the summer.
