DIGITAL DETOX IN THE SKY šŸ“µšŸš€šŸœ with Jakarta Friends – Pool, Food, Drinks & View
Hey, friend in Jakarta! Now that you joined JakFri... **are you a member of [Jakarta Writers](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-writers/) yet?** Want to see **pictures** of past events? **[Take a look here!](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/photos/)** And feel free to upload a few pictures you will take at the event 😊 JakFri and JakCre is **the** biggest, oldest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta… and we invite you to join us to join us for this **DIGITAL DETOX evening in THE SKY! No phones will be allowed during this event!** Let's log off and talk to each other in real life! Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle. Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself. **ABOUT THE EVENT** Join this **very special event** and take a look at **luxury cars** (Ferrari, Porsches, and more) before heading up to a **cozy rooftoop cafĆ© & resto** with a stunning view of the **elevated** **MRT train** and the **JakSel skyline**, have a bite and drink with fellow Jakarta Friends and play a few rounds of **free pool (billiard)** in this fabulous terrace overlooking the city! An informal and intimate evening where we favour **authentic connections** **and conversations** instead of big, loud group where you don't manage to go past the superficial "where are you from" and "what do you do" questions. When checking in, everyone will be reminded not to use their phone. This is an event were we disconnect and enjoy each other presence! **No phones are allowed for the duration of the event!** Will you manage? šŸ˜‰ This is a unique event with **very limited places** as the cafĆ© is small. There's a table reserved for us inside (airco & non-smoking). First-timers are particularly encouraged to join! Reserve your spot today and make sure you update your RSVP if you cannot come. No show = kicked from the group. Our events are **introvert friendly** and we favour authenticity! Everyone is always welcome to join our events. For this event, we have chosen a small cafĆ© with an astonishing view and a delicious and diverse food menu. The location is excellent and the view of the MRT train passing a few meters away is absolutely epic. At the entrance of the building there is a shop for luxury cars and you are invitated to take a stroll and feel free to buy one šŸ˜‰ Be prepared to identify yourself with ID at the entrance for security reasons. Then you can head up with the elevator to the rooftop terrace (having both an inside area with airco and outside/smoking area with pool table). A table is reserved for us under the name "MeetUp". The event starts at 6.30 PM and I strongly recommend to arrive on time. The kitchen closes at 8 PM for the last order. Don't be late and don't miss this opportunity to have an authentic evening with locals and international new friends. We will ask for a split bill and everyone will be paying what they consume. **Pool is free!** **We have organised this event before!** * **[Digital Detox in the Sky at Rocket CafĆ©](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/events/311728808)**[ ](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/events/311728808)(Nov 2025) You can browse [all future events](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/events/) and [all past events](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/events/?type=past) of Jakarta Friends take a look at [pictures of previous events](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/photos/) to get a sense of the vibe of our group! **ABOUT THE VENUE** * Here's the IG of Rocket CafĆ© Fatmawati: https://www.instagram.com/rocketcafe.fatmawati/ * Here you can find all you need about the cafĆ©: https://share.google/fKZMHUeX4DGIJ8xUD * Rocket CafĆ© Fatmawati is located near the MRT Fatmwati (5 minutes walking distance) and we strongly recommend you to skip the hassle of macet, leave the car somewhere, and join by MRT. * The restaurant closes at 9 PM and last order is at 8 PM. The place is small, and attendance to this event is limited to 6 persons. If you cannot join, please **update your RSVP at least 24h before the event** as respect to the organiser and people in the waitlist. **No-shows will be kicked out of the group.** There will be a table reserved for us under MeetUp. At the counter on the main entrance (first floor) you will be required to show your ID and indentify yourself to be let into the building as they care about security and a safe space. **HOW TO REGISTER TO THE EVENT?** To register, just click ā€œAttendā€! There are a few simple rules * We kindly ask attendees who cannot manage to join to **update RSVP at least 24 h before the event** as a courtesy to other attendees and event organisers. * Cancellation a few hours before the event still counts as a no-show as it takes the spot away from someone else * Don't be early! We want to eat together * It's OK if you arrive some time after 6.30 PM, but let's try to eat together, shall we! So, try to make it in time. * People in the waitlist **cannot** attend, and are encouraged to check a few hours before the event to see if they got a spot * No show at this event without updating RSVP = removal from the group. * As the place is small, only 6 guests can attend this event and no +1 are allowed. You are most welcome to bring a +1 at another event! Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! **WE HAVE A MEMBERSHIP FEE. BOOK CLUB: Heart of a Dog šŸ• by Mikhail Bulgakov with Jakarta Writers
BOOK CLUB: Heart of a Dog šŸ• by Mikhail Bulgakov with Jakarta Writers
Hello, Jakarta Writer! **Are you a member of [Jakarta Friends](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/) yet?** Want to see **pictures** of past events? **[Take a look here!](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/photos/)** And feel free to upload a few pictures you might take at the event 😊 JakWri (former Jakarta Writers) and JakFri is **the** biggest, oldest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta… and we invite you to join us for this **BOOK CLUB discussing "Heart of a Dog" šŸ• by Mikhail Bulgakov!** Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle. Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself. **ABOUT THE EVENT** The idea is very simple: we will meet and discuss the book. Everyone will receive a copy of the book as PDF beforehand **for free** (which we kindly ask not to share with everyone - this book discussion is for educational purposes). Reach out to the host to receive the PDF, and feel free to ask any question in the discussion section of the event page. Everyone is encouraged to read the short book (in English, about 300 pages) beforehand to participate to the discussion. Coming without having read the book is possible, but just half the fun. The host will give a short introduction about the book and guide through the discussion, which will be very informal and fun. Everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and ask questions. This event is **introvert friendly**! No one will be put on the spot or forced to speak. Just join and share your passion for literature, no matter how much you read. This is a dream event for anyone who wishes to take a deep dive into literature and have a fun, social lunch time. Our book club will be in English. Everyone's English level is OK as this is a nice occasion to practice English in an informal and welcoming setting. **ABOUT THE BOOK** A parody on the "New Soviet Man" and eugenics, Bulgakov's satirical and biting novella remains one of the more odd and fascinating takes on Bolshevism. Sharik, the dog, finds itself rescued by the brilliant and arrogant Profesor Preobrazhensky from the streets full of its natural enemy: the proletariats. One day, the Profesor ends up experimenting on the pampered and fattened Sharik as part of his research on rejuvenation, only for the operation to take a sharp and bizarre turn. It's best to enter into this book blind, bearing only the questions of which one is more horrifying: the heart of a dog or the heart of a man. Discover more about the book [on Goodreads](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/113205.Heart_of_a_Dog)! **We have had several Book Clubs before! Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting. Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance. Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues. So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them? That is what this meeting will be all about. Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there. This group is created by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.

CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help ā€œcreate a better worldā€ by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events! Should be a good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
