Details

Ciao a tutti e benvenuti!

This week we are reading and translating chapters 1 and 2 of the short story Lisabetta da Messina from the Italian masterpiece Le novelle DEL DECAMERON by Giovanni Boccaccio.

  • The version we are using is for language learners using modern Italian for level A2-B1 readers, edited by Laura Tegazzin and Simplicio Stella.
  • We invite you to get your own copy to practice and prepare on your own. It's available from Amazon in paperback and for Kindle.
  • "Decameron is one of the most captivating and significant works of Italian literature, written by Giovanni Boccaccio in the 14th century. It consists of 100 short stories told by seven young women and three young men who seek refuge outside Florence to escape the Black Plague." The selected short stories in the book we are using explore a wide range of themes, from love to cleverness, fortune to deception, providing a window into the life and values of that era.
  • Each meeting we will have the evening's reading on screen for everyone to see to help us all practice pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar, all in a fun, relaxed atmosphere!

Those who RSVP will receive the meeting link the day of the meeting.

Speriamo vedervi qui!
