Join us for a fascinating virtual journey through Rome, a city whose greatness was built not only on power and empire, but on water. From monumental aqueducts to luxurious baths and imperial palaces, Rome is truly a city shaped by water.
In this virtual tour, we’ll explore how the ancient Romans mastered water engineering, creating an extraordinary network of aqueducts that supplied the city with fresh water and transformed daily life. We’ll uncover the role of the great Roman thermae, where bathing was both a social ritual and a symbol of civilization, comfort, and prestige.
Our journey also leads us to the opulent Domus Aurea, Nero’s legendary palace, where water features, fountains, and artificial lakes were designed to astonish visitors and express imperial power on an unprecedented scale.
We then descend beneath modern Rome to discover Trevi Underground, known as Vicus Caprarius — a hidden archaeological site beneath the Trevi area where ancient structures, flowing water, and a still-active aqueduct reveal Rome’s continuous relationship with water from antiquity to today. Here, the city’s hydraulic genius is visible below street level, quietly flowing through centuries of history.
This immersive virtual journey reveals Rome through water, tracing its path from ancient engineering to imperial power and everyday life, and uncovering a unique side of the Eternal City — all from the comfort of home.
