The Gardens of the Medici Family Virtual Tour
Details
REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Click here to register
Join our new virtual tour dedicated to the gardens of the Medici Family and discover how one of Europe’s most powerful families used gardens to express their ideas, ambitions, and way of life.
For the Medici, gardens were far more than beautiful outdoor spaces. They were places to show power and culture, to host guests, to reflect on philosophy and art, and to shape nature according to Renaissance ideals of order and harmony. Through these gardens, the Medici communicated who they were and how they wished to be seen.
Through slides and storytelling, we’ll explore how different members of the Medici family commissioned and shaped these landscapes, filling them with statues, fountains, grottoes, and long views over the countryside. Each garden reflects the personality, tastes, and political vision of the Medici who created it.
We’ll touch on iconic places such as the Boboli Gardens, as well as other important Medici sites like the Parco e Giardino della Villa Medicea di Castello and the evocative Parco Mediceo di Pratolino, highlighting how these gardens were linked to Medici daily life, celebrations, and political display.
Step into the Medici world and discover how their legacy still lives on in these extraordinary landscapes — all from the comfort of your home.
