October calls for something a little darker, a little stranger, and preferably with just enough psychological unease.
For next month to discuss, we have three different shades of scary to choose from:

a) “Something Wicked This Way Comes” by Ray Bradbury — a dark, lyrical tale of carnivals , childhood fears, and the unsettling price of getting what you wish for.

b) “The Eyes Are the Best Part” by Monika Kim — a disturbing psychological horror novel that gets under your skin and challenges just how much darkness can hide behind an ordinary face.

c) “Silent Companions” by Laura Purcell — a gothic mystery full of eerie old houses, unsettling secrets, and the creeping suspicion that some things are better left unexplained .

Three books, three flavours of dread: literary and atmospheric, psychologically unsettling, or deliciously gothic. Something for every taste, including the questionable ones.
