GWAR at the Madison Theater – People Watching Level: Extreme

Details
Alright friends, this one has been a long time coming. GWAR is rolling into the Madison Theater on Friday, September 19, and I’m finally cashing in on a promise I made to myself way back in 1993. The first time I saw these guys was on Beavis and Butt-Head, and I swore that one day I’d go see them live. Not because I’m a GWAR fan (I’m not), but because you don’t pass up the opportunity for people watching on this scale.
If you’ve never heard of GWAR, imagine heavy metal meets intergalactic horror movie costumes, with a side of theater so over the top it makes pro wrestling look like a broadway show.
Fans even have their own code word: “Bohab.” At one point there was a buy one, get one free code “BOHAB” floating around for tickets. I’m not sure if it still works, but it’s worth a try.
Here’s the plan: I’m going for the spectacle. The costumes, the chaos, the crowd. I want to check this off my list, and I need a few brave souls to come along. If you’re into the music, perfect. If not, come for the experience and the people watching. Either way, you’ll leave with a story.
So, talk a friend into joining you and join us. Let’s see GWAR together, survive the madness, and have something to laugh about for years to come.
When: Friday, September 19
Where: Madison Theater - I will be the guy standing safely in the back
Why: Because 1993 me said so, and honestly, how could we not?
