Hey Guys!!! This is a cool one!
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
We'll be driving up to Mt. Wilson (5,713ft) in the San Gabriel Mt. Range and will be hanging out, admiring the view of LA from way up, having a picnic, enjoying a lecture on Astronomy, seeing the sunset and Stargazing through the 100 and 60 inch telescopes once it gets dark! Freedom to roam around, socialize, meditate, play games, snap some epic photos and more is all encouraged!!!

The lecture topic is interesting...ASTEROID IMPACTS: The Only Preventable Natural Disaster, with Carrie Nugent, professor at Olin College.
It is not absolutely necessary to attend this and if you'd rather hang out, that is cool...but I'll be attending and hope we have more of a following doing so as well. Also I believe attending the lecture will allow you admission to the telescopes...not sure otherwise.
COST
The lecture/telescope viewing is $20.00. You can pay this online or there in person. I'll be paying in person.
There is also an Adventure Pass that MUST be purchased for every vehicle that will be parked up at the observatory. It is $5.00 and can be purchased at the Cosmic Cafe at the top, or at Haramokngna American Indian Cultural Center which is just off HWY 2 before the 5 mile drive up to Mt. Wilson.
GETTING THERE, PARKING AND WHERE TO MEET?
To get there you have to get on Angeles Crest HWY 2 from La Cañada Flintridge (off of 210 FWY) and wind your way up 13.9 Miles till you get to the Haramokngna American Indian Cultural Center. From there it is another 5 miles to Mt. Wilson.
Parking is simple...there is a Parking Lot at the Observatory. It is after the gate though (which will likely be open). Here is a google link to the lot:
We will meet at the edge of the Parking Lot...where the view will be epic!
Ridesharing is encouraged! Especially if you wanna save 5 bucks! I'll likely ride my Motorcycle though!
WHEN AND WHAT TIME?
Saturday May 19th @ 4:00PM!
I'm going to get there before 4PM and will wait around for quite a while. I understand that it may be tough for everyone to be totally punctual, but please try!
At 4:30 or so, I'd like to start heading towards the Cafe and picnic areas for some light snacking and then towards the lecture hall.
The Lecture starts at 5:30PM and is till 7PM. Afterwards food will be offered by the observatory as well...that will be extra $$$ of course. We can do our own picnic then too.
The Sunset will be at 7:52PM, so we can catch that as we wait till it gets dark so we can start stargazing!
CELL RECEPTION
...is questionable there. I may not be able to take a call from there in case you're lost. So ensure you read the WHERE and WHEN thoroughly...thanks :)
WHAT DO YOU BRING?
Bring extra layers cause it'll get chilly
Bring a light with you
Feel free to bring picnic snacks (sharing is caring)
Bring wine if you'd like...
Bring a Camera for awesome pics!
Bring FRIENDS!!!
Bring a good attitude and a willingness to make friends
WEATHER!!!
I cannot anticipate this now, but would imagine it'll be nice as it'll be late may. Still it could get cold as night falls. I'll do my best to update this as the event approaches.
