10K-Steps Challenge & Social Walk at Lacy Park and Beyond (San Marino)

Details
Hi All,
Come join me for a fun and active evening on Thursday, May 22nd as we kick off a 10K-Steps Walking Challenge!
I know—10,000 steps might not sound like a lot, but for those of us who sit at desks or stand in one place all day, it's not always easy to hit that goal. And while 15,000 or 20,000 steps would be great, they also require more time. So to make it fun and manageable, we’re starting with 10k steps as a challenge—and we may increase the goal in future events.
Here’s the plan:
We’ll meet at Lacy Park at 6 PM and walk for about 2.5 hours, covering the inner loop, outer loop, and then exploring the surrounding San Marino neighborhood.
Since this is an urban walk, I’m keeping the group small out of respect for the neighborhood.
Space is limited, so please RSVP only if you’re 100% sure you’ll attend.
If you RSVP and don’t show, I may flag you for future events—we all appreciate reliability and respect for others’ spots.
Important:
Bring a flashlight or headlamp if you have one—we’ll be walking until around 8:30 PM.
Expect to hit somewhere between 10,000–12,000 steps (approximately 7.5-9 miles), depending on the pace and group.
If this goes well, I’d love to host more midweek walking events so we can stay active together and make fitness part of our regular routine.
See you there!
Btw. Yes, Lacy Park allow dogs. However, they must be on a leash and it will be your own responsibility. No running involved. Just a casual, social walk. Bring water if you need it.
Free street parking available around the surrounding areas. Park closes at dusk so I strongly advise against parking inside any of the lots. Just drive around and you can easily find free open parking spaces.
(This event is set up intentionally on Thursday so that it doesn't get in the way of any weekend plans.)
