Join me for a refreshing morning hike at Charmlee Wilderness Park, one of Malibu’s hidden gems overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

This easy 2.6-mile loop is perfect for all levels, offering a mix of shady oak groves, open meadows, and breathtaking ocean vistas.

✨ Why Charmlee is Special

The park spans over 500 acres of coastal wilderness high above Malibu.

It features 8 miles of hiking trails, but the Ocean Overlook Loop is a favorite for its balance of beauty and accessibility.

You’ll pass through native chaparral, wildflowers (seasonal), and oak woodlands, with plenty of chances to pause and take in the serenity.

At the Ocean Overlook, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of the Pacific — on a clear day, you can spot Catalina Island!

Charmlee also has historic ranch ruins from Malibu’s early homesteading days, giving the hike a touch of local history.

🌤️ Why We’re Starting Early

We’ll meet at 8:30 AM sharp to beat the heat, enjoy the cool ocean breeze, and have the trails more to ourselves.

The hike should take about 2 hours, with time for breaks, photos, and enjoying the scenery.

📍 Where to Meet

Charmlee Wilderness Park parking area. Please arrive a little early to allow time for parking and finding the group.

Parking is free but limited, so carpooling is encouraged.

🥾 What to Bring

• Comfortable walking shoes or light hiking boots
• Water (at least 1 liter recommended)
• Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
• Optional: snacks or fruit to enjoy at the overlook

💡 Difficulty: Easy to moderate. Gentle inclines with some exposed sun but plenty of spots to rest. Suitable for beginners and casual hikers.
