Old Mount Emma hike (Acton/Palmdale)
Details
Let's hike both Old Mount Emma and Mount Emma itself. Both are on the same ridge and they're at the top edge of the San Gabriels near Acton and Palmdale. It's all on use trails and there's no scrambling. Figure under 8 miles RT and 2500' of gain.
Both peaks are on the Hundred Peaks List so in one fairly quick hike you'll be on your way to collecting them all.
To make it a little more challenging I'll probably be rucking it and I might do another HPS peak afterwards, but you don't have to do either. In any case, we'll proceed at a moderate pace and, unlike some other Meetup groups, we'll all stick together.
I hiked partway up Old Mount Emma on Sunday and only turned around to get back and watch the ALCS. It's steep and a bit loose, but there's little vegetation so you can see where you're going at all times. It's an attractive area if you like desert peaks.
Meet at 10:30am on Sunday Oct 19 at the Pearblossom Park and Ride (34.51079195961909, -118.1102145430375).
