About
We are dedicated to teaching jeet kune do (JKD), the art and philosophy developed by Bruce Lee and Filipino martial arts (FMA), fighting methods devised in the Philippines. The most popular forms of which are known as Arnis, Eskrima and Kali.
Jeet Kune Do
This is the approach to combat that was founded and developed by the legendary martial artist, Bruce Lee (1940-1973), during his lifetime. This scientific street-fighting art is designed to work in real situations involving empty-hand combat. It synthesizes combative principles, training methods, techniques, and philosophies researched and complied by Lee during his lifetime with emphasis on the five ranges of attack: single direct attack (SDA), hand immobilization atack (HIA), attack by combination (ABC), progressive indirect attack (PIA), and attack by drawing (ABD).
Filipino Martial Arts
This is the term that we use for the various Filipino fighting arts of Kali, Escrima, and Arnis. The Filipino arts originate from the Philippine Islands and represent a diverse group of fighting systems that were developed as practical responses to situations faced by the people there, emphasizing on weapons, including sticks, knives, umbrellas, etc.

About the Instructor:
I was blessed to be introduced to the art of Jeet Kune Do at an early age. Me and brother were enrolled in the "Little Dragons" class at the original FMA (Filipino Martial arts) academy. Our instructor was Jeff Imada (Balisong Manual and 2nd unit director for the Bourne Identity) movies.
JKD is a very difficult art for an 8 year old. So after one year of training my father. (Publisher of Dan Inosanto's first books and art director of Inside Kung fu) enrolled me into Shotokan Karate (Ju-Kara) with Emil Farkas (Sensei to the Stars) and Douglas Wong (Grandmaster White Lotus System). It was a fantastic time! Learning discipline, sportsmanship and flexibility.
In college returned to JKD/Kali and Shootwrestling with Tsuyoshi Abe and the Cal State LA JKD Club. Studied for 5 years till the end, while enhancing my arsenal with doses of Lameco Escrima (Edgar Silute), Boxing (Weaver Brothers), Muay Thai (Vut Kanmark) & Boxer Rebellion (Mark Stewart).
Last, 8 years have been spent at the South Bay Jeet Kune Do Academy (David Cheng), where earned my teaching certification. What enjoy, is that JKD/Kali, encourages the practitioner to train in other arts, experiencing and developing the essence of the art.
