Hike to El Matador Beach (6 miles total - Malibu

Hey Meetup People, let’s invade one of Malibu’s best hidden beach El Matador State Beach. The city has made it impossible to find adequate parking (screw the city officials), but I have found a great spot to park our cars. We will then hike 3 miles out, walk around the beach, explore the sea cave, have a small pot luck, and then return to our cars. So join me on this adventure, because I promise you this will be more exciting than feeding the ducks at the zoo.

Goal #1: Arrive at the Official Meetup Spot
Goal #2: Hike to El Matador (3 miles out)
Goal #3: Walk around the beach
Goal #4: Explore the sea caves
Goal #5: Have a small pot luck
Goal #6: Return to our cars. (3 miles back)

Driving to the event:
-Type in “Leo Carrillo State Park” or “35000 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu”
-Or copy and paste these coordinates (34.04544° N, 118.93322° W)
-Plenty of free street parking (I will do this one)
-Just look out for any shady/ misleading “No parking” signs.
-Or $12/ day to use their parking lot. (Parking lot closes at 10pm)

-I will be walking around that tower (I don’t want to piss off the lifeguard lol)

What to bring:
-A positive attitude (mandatory)
-Comfortable walking shoes
-A lunch, drink, snacks
-A light sweater (in case it’s windy and cold)
-Sunscreen
-No alcohol allowed, but be very discreet about it (I won’t tell anyone)
-A beach chair for lounging around
-A towel
-No dogs allowed
