Waterfall scrambling + Watermelon Festival

This is a two-fer: a scramble to a series of waterfalls, followed by a visit to the CA Watermelon Festival at Hansen Dam. Do one or both.

At 1pm we'll meet near 13116 Sayre St in Sylmar and then drive together into Veterans Memorial Park. Then we'll do "Sylmar Waterfall and the Veteran's Park Trail". Although it's only 2 miles and 500' of gain, it involves using ropes to lift yourself up rocks. Based on the photos, I'll try to do it with a weighted pack and without using the ropes. I might have to dump some of the weight, and if I find the ropes too sketchy we'll return and do something else. Look that up and be sure to check out the photos to make sure you're OK with this.

I'm not so enthused about spending $20 for admission and $15 for parking, but hopefully we can rideshare or walk. OTOH, I haven't had a watermelon that's sweet for a while so hopefully they've got that part figured out, being watermelon experts and all.
