ISC invites you to hang out for drinks and casual conversation with other science fans. Whether you work in science or are just interested in science discoveries and research, this is a great time to meet like-minded folks!

At this Science Social, WE get to be the "lab rats!" Steve Franconeri, PhD, Northwestern University Professor of cognitive psychology, developed Point Taken, a game easy to master at any age, that is designed to turn heated arguments into a joint exploration supported by mutual respect and honest thinking. He will explain his reasoning and the research behind it the game, then we will play it and provide feedback.

It's a great follow up to ISC's program last fall -- Your Brain on Misinformation -- when Dr. Matthew Facciani presented his work for Misguided: Where Misinformation Starts, How It Spreads, and What to Do About It. Attendees were very interested in how to persuade relatives discussing politics and had a lively post-presentation conversation about how to have productive non-argumentative conversations. This game will be a great exercise in that effort but you certainly don't need to have gone to that event to attend this one.
