IxDA Louisville is excited to partner with Louisville Metro Government's Office of Performance Improvement & Innovation and the National Digital Inclusion Alliance to reimagine how people get access to low-cost internet. The IxDA is leading research that will culminate in a Design Jam during the mayor’s Give-A-Day week in April of 2019.
We are looking for people from all walks of life to participate. Whether you’re an experienced designer or researcher, interested in building your design skills, or simply passionate about digital inclusion, there’s a place for you in this project.
The Design Jam is the main event. Similar to a hackathon, a design jam brings together a diverse group of people to brainstorm, collaborate, and pitch ideas for solutions to problems. We’ll be presenting the results of the research to get you inspired, then helping folks form teams that will then spend the day coming up with ways to solve the problems digital inclusion faces in Louisville. Come as a team, or come alone, and we’ll help you find a team. No design experience required!
If you’d really like to dig deep, join the research team. You’ll be working in pairs to interview people who are eligible for low-cost internet, either at community events or in one-on-one sessions in the community. We’ll pair experienced researchers with folks who are new to the process, and we’ll give you tips for how to do great research. To participate in the research team, you’ll have to attend our Kickoff on February 16th, the Research Synthesis Meeting on March 23rd, and you’ll need to commit to at least one research activity during February or March. To sign up, look for our other IxDA Louisville events here on Meetup.
Contact Matt Dobson ([masked]) for more information. We are also accepting sponsors for the Design Jam - let us know if you’re interested in contributing.
