What we're about

IxDA Romandie, your local chapter of the Interaction Design Association.

Our goal is to build a network of emerging and experienced designers in Romandie who believe that poor design can increasingly challenge the use of a product and services.

By demonstrating the discipline of Interaction Design and all the skills to produce great design, we will empower our members to advocate and build meaningful products and services for humans.
We aim to inspire and facilitate the sharing of ideas.

Why should we all become ecocentric. 3 talks @HEIG, Yverdon

Dear community, this April, we propose a special event. Not one, not two, but three speakers will join us to talk about an important subject matter : Sustainable design.

While there is an increased awareness about the impact of climate change and the potential lifestyle changes that as individuals we can do, the impact of technology and the digital products that we - as designers - are building is not as well understood.

Based on their experiences and researches, our guests will provide valuable insights on the matter and share with us practical tools, approaches and methodologies to adopt a more sustainable approach in the design process and contribute to a better future.

The event will be followed - as usual - by a cheerful moment of sharing during our traditional Apéro. What a great way to start Easter holidays !

Detailed Program
18:00 - Open doors
18:15-20:30 3 Talks about sustainable design
20:30 Buffet and apéro

1. Laila Goubran, Design Lead IBM Germany
Sustainable UX design: A designer role for a more sustainable future.

While there's increased awareness about the impact of climate change and about potential lifestyle changes that as individuals we can do, the impact of technology and the products that as user experience designers we are building every day is not as well understood.

In this talk, I will share some of the ways designers can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and create products that contribute to a more sustainable future.

2. Nicolas Lanthemann, UI Design @Ratio and founder of overthere.link

3. Stéphane Lecorney, Lead Ra&D at the Media Engineering Institute
Sustainable design approaches and projects in the academic world. Focus on the ByteSim project: Carbon impact simulator for webpages.

The environmental impact of digital activities is becoming a growing concern with its impact representing around 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.

Green IT is a practice that aims at reducing this impact by developing more sober and sustainable IT services.
The Media Engineering Institute developed a tool Bytesim to better estimate the impact of webpages and help conceive sustainable services.
