Happy New Year Everyone,
I hope you all had the opportunity to enjoy time with friends and family over the holidays. I'm sure it will take some time to adjust to writing 25 instead of 24 when writing the date down is required, but I'll adjust eventually ;-).
I have a bit of housekeeping to share. When these meetings were first convened back in 2019 it was known as the Jordan Peterson Meetup. We were inspired to do it by a pastor in Sacramento named Paul VanderKlay, who had a Youtube channel where he discussed Peterson and conversations with listeners that became a very popular feature of his show. It highlighted a need for people to have a place where they could freely express themselves in a non-judgmental manner and enter what Paul's friend John Vervaeke calls DiaLogos. That's what we shoot for in our meetings.
Sometime later a guy in Southern California, named John Vandoonk, another friend of Paul's shared with him a methodology to conduct meetings where all participants get the opportunity to contribute and engage. They discussed it and decided to call it Estuary. If you don't know you can get the image of the interchange of ideas represented by the mixing of the river flowing into the sea.
We decided to adapt that format, what is now known as the Estuary protocol and started a second group, called the West Michigan Estuary. At this moment in time there are Estuary groups all over the world. There's a website: estuaryhub.com. Check it out if you're interested at all.
Most if not all of the Jordan Peterson Meetup members have transitioned to the West Michigan Estuary meetup group. It's more expensive to run two groups than one as a Meetup organizer so I'm going to relinquish the Peterson group as per Meetup rules. Someone else can pick it up, but we'll only be announcing meeting and general communications via the West Michigan Estuary Meetup group. So, for those of you who would like to stay engaged I'd encourage you to transition ASAP so you don't miss any of the announcements. Consequently, this will be the last event notice or other communication going out via the Jordan Peterson Meetup group.

Blessed New Years to you all,
Bernie
