We are the oldest, biggest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta... and we invite you to join us! Everyone is always welcome.

Jakarta Creatives is the community to explore, practice, or enjoy all forms of artistry and creativity in Jakarta. We do book clubs, book swaps, karaoke nights, comedy events, writing sessions, museum visits, attend poetry events, watch movies, do photography walking tours, and much more! It's all about authentic connections in an uncomplicated and informal setting.

Together, we are creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome. This group is a convergence of people and cultures. You might want to check out the group Jakarta Friends, too!

Over the past 3 years, with Jakarta Creatives & Jakarta Creatives we have had over 250 events with about 2,000 attendees! Everyone should always feel welcome to join disregarding from their ethnicity, nationality, religion, creed, age, language skills, gender identification, sexual orientation, background, ability, income, social status, or any other arbitrary trait.

We have a yearly membership fee to join our events. This is explained more in detail in the group discussion! The membership fee is not expensive and gives access to all events + exclusive perks! There's so much more value to members than having an event fee. We guarantee keep organising plenty of events and the fee is refundable if the group closes down or if there are no events for more than three months. You can attend the first event for free and take a look!

Feel free to **join the group Jakarta Friends: https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/** With Jakarta Friends we play board games, talk business, socialize, eat and drink together, do language exchanges, explore the city by walking and culinary tours, and much more!

Hello, Jakarta Creative! Are you a member of Jakarta Friends yet? Want to see pictures of past events? Take a look here! And feel free to upload a few pictures you might take at the event 😊

JakCre and JakFri is the biggest, oldest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta… and we invite you to join us for this BOOK CLUB discussing "Rosemary's Baby" 👶 by Ira Levin!

Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle. Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself.

ABOUT THE EVENT

The idea is very simple: we will meet and discuss the book. Everyone will receive a copy of the book as PDF beforehand for free (which we kindly ask not to share with everyone - this book discussion is for educational purposes). Reach out to the host to receive the PDF, and feel free to ask any question in the discussion section of the event page.

Everyone is encouraged to read the short book (in English, about 100 pages) beforehand to participate to the discussion. Coming without having read the book is possible, but just half the fun.

The host will give a short introduction about the book and guide through the discussion, which will be very informal and fun. Everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts and ask questions. This event is introvert friendly! No one will be put on the spot or forced to speak. Just join and share your passion for literature, no matter how much you read.

This is a dream event for anyone who wishes to take a deep dive into literature and have a fun, social lunch time. Our book club will be in English. Everyone's English level is OK as this is a nice occasion to practice English in an informal and welcoming setting.

ABOUT THE BOOK

In 1966, the New York Times prominently questioned whether God was dead. This provocative declaration perfectly captured the cultural zeitgeist, as society was flirting with death, cults, drugs, and alternative spirituality as replacements for traditional religiosity.

In Rosemary’s Baby, Ira Levin not only referenced this idea but explored the death of God through the experiences of a young New York couple—who are trying to conceive—after they move into a Gothic Revival apartment building steeped in ominous history and dark secrets.
Through the deeply realistic and subtly harrowing daily life of Rosemary and her theater-actor husband, Guy, Rosemary’s Baby delivers a gripping psychological horror masterpiece. As Rosemary navigates her pregnancy amid increasingly sinister neighbors and cryptic events, the novel becomes a chilling page-turner.

If you’ve ever wondered where the modern trope of “the new home harbors a dark secret” truly began, look no further—this irreplaceable work remains unrivaled by its many successors.

For when “God is dead” is declared to be true, something else must inevitably rise to take His place.

SHUT! UP! AND! WRITE! Vol. XXXVI ✍️ with Jakarta Creatives

ngoepi, Jl. Keuangan Raya No.15 Cilandak, Jakarta Selatan, ID

Hello, Jakarta Creative! Are you a member of Jakarta Friends yet?
Want to see pictures of past events? Take a look here! And feel free to upload a few pictures you might take at the event 😊

JakCre and JakFri is THE biggest, oldest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta… and we invite you to join us for this SHUT! UP! AND! WRITE! Vol. XXXVI

Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle. Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself.

    ABOUT THE EVENT

So, you want to write? Then shut up and write! Writing is 0.01% "inspiration" and 99.99% getting down to it.

We will meet for a circa 2,5 hour writing session at Ngoepi in Cilandak, a cozy café with some tasty bites and a lovely garden near the MRT station Fatmawati Indomaret.

It doesn't matter if you are an established writer or if you are picking up pen and paper for the first time. Just show up, get down to it, and start writing. Everyone will be working on their own thing, and we won't talk during writing. If you need some prompt or suggestion on what to write, I'll be happy to give you some ideas.

After the circa 2,5 h writing session session, we will switch off our laptops and close our notebooks (but if you want to keep going, feel free!) and chill down. We can also share each other texts and give feedback, if that's something someone would like to do.

    The rules of the game:

    1. We aim to start together in order not to disrupt the process for everyone. Please be on time.
    2. No talking at the table during writing! After arriving at the table, we will focus on our own writing
    3. You can take as many breaks as you want of course

Don't be late as we want to start writing together, and please do update your RSVP at least 24h before the event if you cannot come, else you will take away a spot from a person in the waitlist. Don't be that persons! Repeated no-shows will be kicked from the group.

We have organised this event before! You can see a few past events here:

    ABOUT THE VENUE
