Austin Dog Zone- Reactive Dog Walking Meetup
Trainer leading this Meetup: Giulia
ALL dogs must be approved by an evaluation prior to participating in our Meetup.
We meet at the West Pickle Research Building at 3925 W, Braker Ln., located at the intersection of MOPAC and Braker Ln.
Visitor parking is on the south side of the building in Lot F. All other lots require a UT Parking Permit. You’ll need to get a Daily Permit from the Pay and Display Station in Lot F and put it on your windshield. The cost is $4. The Pay and Display station takes credit/debit cards as well as cash (it accepts both $1 and $5 bills, but doesn’t give change).
Please bring poop-bags so that we can leave the premises clean, as it is the only condition the building concierge asks of us.
Bring delicious treats for your dog. High value treats include hot dogs, chicken, cheese, freeze-dried liver
Let's work together to help our dogs overcome their reactivity in a safe environment. Please keep all dogs at a comfortable distance from one another. Karin will provide guidance and instruction. Only one dog per handler and all dogs must be assessed at a private consultation before joining for the safety of everyone. Thank you!
Free Beginner Standing Acroyoga Orientation
Fun, fitness, friends, FREE!
Acroyoga is partnered acrobatics enhanced with techniques from yoga, gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, and even healing arts such as Thai massage.
Austin is home to one of the largest, friendliest acroyoga communities in the United States, with a vibrant scene and many opportunities to play and learn each week. All we're missing is you!
If you've been wanting to try out acroyoga, we welcome you to our weekly beginner orientation lesson, part of our regular Friday jam (open practice). Through games and calibrations, you'll understand key body mechanics essential to acro, and then learn several basic poses and how to transition between them. You'll be surprised what you'll be able to do!
Taught by volunteer senior members of our community, this lesson emphasizes safety, connection, and fun. No partner or experience necessary! Feel free to come by yourself, with a friend, or bring a group! After the lesson, you're welcome to stay and enjoy the rest of our jam and try out your new skills. Since we'll be playing with others, don't forget to wear deodorant, trim your nails, and brush your teeth
The orientation is FREE, though we welcome pay-what-you-can donations to help support our local jams. This event is organized and run by the Austin Acro Advocates, a 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to a safe, sustainable, and growing acro scene in the greater Austin area.
PLEASE ARRIVE BY 7:45PM so you can fill out our waiver and warm up before the fun begins promptly at 8:00!
1st, 3rd, & 5th Fridays of the month will be acro L-basing orientation
2nd Fridays will be acro therapeutics orientation
4th Fridays will be acro standing orientation
Can't get enough acro? Join our main Facebook group for more!

Yoga Asana is the physical practice of yoga that includes exercises, breathing, and relaxation. The purpose of Yoga Asana isn't fitness. It is, in part, to take care of the body as our vehicle; and although this may include fitness, it should never be defined by it. Yoga Asana practice gives us the opportunity to become aware of the body and the life force within the body, helping us to experience that we are not the body but rather the eternal being within the body who needs fulfillment on a level that the body cannot satisfy. This experience can then lead us to the deeper yoga practices, which are centered around meditation (the heart of yoga) and spiritual inquiry about our eternal identity and purpose. All of our meditation classes are free and are listed here on Meetup. Let us know if you have any questions. Namaste.
NOTE: We do not require masks. We believe it is important to be able to breathe freely while practicing yoga asana and meditation. If you are not comfortable with this, we have links we can send you that may be helpful in practicing at home.

A gathering to share, swap, and connect with like-minded people who care about plant-based living, sustainability, and mindful choices.
This is more than a swap — it’s a space to circulate what we already have and meet others in the community.
Bring any of the following to share:
* **Vegan-related books** (cookbooks, sustainability, mindful living, etc.)
* **Plants or cuttings** (optional)
Swap for something new-to-you from others. *The more you bring, the more there is to exchange!*

Hike Pickerington Ponds
We'll hike 3.4 miles on the Killdeer and Yellowlegs Trails - both out and back gravel trails. If we want more mileage we can repeat an out and back. Pace of around 3.5 mph, no one left behind and those who want to go faster sure can!
As always optional lunch after.
This is the second Metro Park in the lineup for me - with 21 to go (plus more are being added).
