Luminaria Riverside - 2025 Group Holiday Celebration

The Itinerary

Join us for our annual holiday Meet and Greet, in association with various Jacksonville area Meetups. Dress in holiday attire, your favorite ugly sweater, or something festive for the occasion!

Wear comfortable walking shoes!

First, we'll gather at the Riverside Baptist Church at Park and King Streets. Next, we'll walk around the Riverside neighborhood on sidewalks lit by luminaries, as we enjoy decorated homes, holiday carolers, and even some live music performances.

We may grab a bite to eat or refreshment after, time-permitting:

1. Hoptinger Bier Garden - 1037 Park St, Jacksonville, FL 32204 - open until 2am.
2. Lola's Burrito & Burger Joint - 1522 King St, Jacksonville, FL 32205 - open until 9pm. Directly across the street from the Meetup location.
3. Hawkers Riverside - 1001 Park St, Jacksonville, FL 32204 - open until 10pm.
4. Al's Pizza Riverside - 1620 Margaret St, Jacksonville, FL 32204 - open until 9pm - 5 minutes from Meetup location or 3 minutes from Memorial Park.
5. European Street Cafe - 2753 Park St, Jacksonville, FL 32205 - open until 9pm - drive about 5-7 minutes from Meetup location.

Luminaria Parking
Summary: Look for parking spaces on King, Herschel, Park, Oak, Forbes, or Lydia Streets.

1. Street Parking next to the church:
a. King Street, opposite Lola's Burrito Gallery
b. Herschel Street, near the Brick Haus Salon
c. *Ask Permission* - Riverside Church Parking Lot

2. Park Street Commercial Area (Street Parking)
From the Church: Go west on Park Street past the Cool Moose Cafe, looking for available spots.

Walk back to the church on Park Street.

3. Oak Street 2700 Numbered Block (Street Parking)
From the Church: Go south on King St., then right on Oak Street to the 2700 numbered residential area.

Walk 3-4 minutes back to the church.

4. Forbes Street 2600 Numbered Block (Street Parking)
From the Church: Go north on King St, then right on Forbes Street, continuing straight at the Acosta St. intersection.

Walk 4-5 minutes back to the church taking Acosta Street south, which empties into Park Street. The church will be ahead to your right.

5. Lydia Street 2700 Numbered Block (Street Parking)
From the Church: Go north on King St, then left on Lydia Street, going past the Frederica Pl. intersection.

Walk 4-5 minutes back to the church the way you came. If you parked closer to Lydia and James street, take James St. south to Park street, following Park street east to the church.

~~~Weather Advisory~~~
Bring an umbrella, poncho, and old shoes just in case it's raining. We'll delay the walk a few minutes in case of inclement weather.

The Nickel Tour
Riverside Avondale Preservation organizes the annual Luminaria event in the Riverside, Jacksonville neighborhood.

Homeowners on the the route place luminaries on their sidewalks. Some will also festoon their property with holiday decorations, while others will host small gatherings and local musicians.

The Skinny

1. Location - Riverside Baptist Church at Park & King St - 2650 Park Street · Jacksonville, FL
2. Parking - Allow 10-15 minutes to park. You'll need to find a space off Park St, Herschel St, or Oak St.
3. Dress - Ugly sweaters, Christmas lights, Santa Hats, or other holiday attire encouraged (but not required).
4. Arrival - Please try to arrive by 6:30 PM so the group can start the walk together.
