Beyond a Chatbot: A Night of ChatGTP with Dave Snowdon

Since its inception, Google as a search engine has dominated the market for the past two decades. Indeed, Google's parent company, Alphabet, has been laughing all the way to the bank for good reason until recently. On February 8, Alphabet lost $100 billion in market value after its new artificial intelligence technology, AI Chatbot Bard, produced a factual error in its first demo. Bard's stumble signals a great opportunity for Microsoft to take over Google as the new leader in the AI technology and stir up a storm for Google in the search engine market. The rainmaker behind Microsoft's new era is OpenAI's language models, GPT, currently ChatGPT 4. To aid our understanding of this new kid on the block, our very own Eyal Wirsansky will host a meeting through AI for Enterprise Virtual User Group this coming Thursday. Below is the information about the meeting:

ChatGPT has (rightly) generated a massive amount of interest over the last few months, but what is it actually doing and how does it do it?
In this talk, Dave Snowdon of GResearch will give a very high level description of ChatGPT, it's architecture, and how well it works in practice.

By day, Dave Snowdon is a mild-mannered programmer working on developer tooling at GResearch. By night, when not asleep, plans world domination by social emotional robots. In the past Dave worked for VMware, Xerox Research in France and, back in the mists of time, developed one of the first distributed multi-user virtual reality environments as part of his PhD work at Manchester.
