What we’re about
We are a group of adventurers from the LGBTQ community looking to get out on trails, on rivers, or anywhere outside, actively enjoying nature and the great outdoors. Our adventures include hiking, biking, kayaking, ziplining, camping, yoga and any/all other outdoors recreational activities members want to do. Looking to make new friends in the LGBTQ community while having a great adventure? Then this group is for you.
We also welcome our straight brothers, sisters, friends, and allies!
The Outdoorsy Adventure Team is officially a nonprofit organization! While our love for exploring the great outdoors remains at the heart of our group, we’re expanding our mission to include community outreach.
As a nonprofit, we’ll be raising funds for local charities, organizing food drives, participating in community awareness events, and supporting our group’s operations. To help make this possible, we will begin charging a $10 annual membership donation. This small contribution will go a long way in helping us:
• Cover costs like maintaining our Meet-Up presence.
• Fund our participation in community events.
• Host an annual social (spring or holiday) to bring our community together.
• Donate all remaining funds at the end of the year to our favorite local charities.
We’re incredibly excited about this next chapter and hope you’ll support our efforts as we move forward with this nonprofit initiative. Together, we can make a meaningful impact in our community while enjoying nature and building connections.
Remember, just $10 can help us make a big difference in people’s lives. Let’s hike, paddle, bike, and climb our way to stronger community bonds and support for those in need.
Thank you for being a part of our journey! Let’s explore, give back, and grow together.

Hiking Historic Kingsley Plantation and Ribault Club, Fort George Island
Ribault Club, 12241 Fort George Road, Jacksonville, FL, USDuring the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, many people came to Florida. Some, like Zephaniah Kingsley, sought to make their fortunes by obtaining land and establishing plantations. Others were forced to come to Florida to work on those plantations, their labor providing wealth to the people who owned them. Some of the enslaved would later become free landowners, struggling to keep their footing in a dangerous time of shifting alliances and politics. All of these people played a part in the history of Kingsley Plantation.
At Kingsley Plantation you can explore the grounds, which include the slave quarters, barn, waterfront, plantation house, kitchen house, and interpretive garden.
For more information, visit the official website: https://www.nps.gov/timu/learn/historyculture/kp.htm
Ribault Club was built in 1928 and is a monument to the resort era on Fort George Island. It has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places and is listed as an Historic Landmark by the City of Jacksonville. The Fort George Island Visitor Center is run by the Florida Park Service and the National Park Service through the Timucuan Trail State and National Parks partnership.
