ABOUT THE EVENT
Calling out all movie lovers, and all lovers of nature, science, and the experimental arts! This is your dream event...

...a film festival of shorts, experimental movies, documentaries, mockumentaries, animated movies (and more!) ALL ABOUT FUNGI (jamur jamur)!

Have you ever wondered what fungi are? what fungi do? why they are important? why they are hidden in plain sight?

Fungi are much more than just mushrooms! The festival will present mushrooms, yeasts, mycelium, moulds, lichens, and much more, in a way you have never experienced before.

Come on this fascinating journey and discover more while having lots of fun watching this special film festival, now in its 5th edition. The festival is about 2 hours long. At the end of the screening we will have a round table chat to discuss what we saw.

The festival is in English or with English subtitles. Movies are from all over the world. This is a FREE event! We might ask to make a small voluntary donation to the festival.

The fun and edutaining aspect is guaranteed. You'll learn something new while enjoying this unique experience. The organiser/host is a science writer with a PhD in fungal ecology/microbiology and has done experimental movie shootings/writing before. Hopefully we will have few special guests, too...

ABOUT THE VENUE
Ngoepi is a lovely cafe with a cozy book corner and great coffee and snacks. There's an indoor area with airco (non smoking), and a garden/patio outside.

HOW TO REGISTER TO THE EVENT?
Just click “Attend” and enjoy watching this festival FOR FREE! There are a few simple rules

  • BE ON TIME as you don't want to be the person who disrupt everyone who's already watching the festival. We aim to start sharp at dusk (18.20-ish)
  • Once the doors close (at 18.30), there's NO POSSIBILITY to enter the venue anymore
  • We kindly ask attendees who cannot manage to join to update RSVP at least 24 h before the event as a courtesy to other attendees and event organisers.
  • The venue is small, and we need to keep maximum number of attendees low. People in the waitlist cannot come and are encouraged to check on the morning of the event if they got a spot
  • Repeated no-show (3X) without updating RSVP will be removed from the group.
