What we're about

Meet other developers and users of Kubernetes in Jakarta. Kubernetes is an open source application and infrastructure management platform for containers . It handles scheduling onto nodes in a compute cluster and actively manages workloads to ensure that their state matches the users declared intentions. Kubernetes can run almost anywhere, including Google Compute Engine, Vagrant, CoreOS, Azure, vSphere, RackSpace, etc. Learn more about Kubernetes at http://kubernetes.io

Prometheus, Keptn, and All About Contributing to Open Source

Hi Cloud Native Indonesia! It's time for another monthly meetup and this one is special since we also want to be a part of the worldwide celebration of Hacktoberfest! We will have guests that have been maintaining open source projects that is currently used by big companies and millions of people, but we truly want this to be welcoming to all different sorts of experiences. For those of you who first heard about open source and curious on how to get started in contributing, worry not since we will have a 2 hours warm and exciting discussion! All event will be livestreamed at our YouTube channel Cloud Native Indonesia (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX4J6ceIwtN00Tu7Deq1z6w). ======================================================== Talk #1: Overcome Challenges with Prometheus and Keptn (Presented in English) Speaker: Jürgen Etzlstorfer (Technology Strategist, Dynatrace) Prometheus is considered a foundational building block when running applications on Kubernetes and has become the de-facto open-source standard for visibility and monitoring in Kubernetes environments. Your first starting points when operating Prometheus are most probably configuring scraping to pull your metrics from your services, building dashboards on top of your data with Grafana, or defining alerts for important metrics breaching thresholds in your production environment. in your production environment. As soon as you are comfortable with Prometheus as your weapon of choice, your next challenges will be scaling and managing Prometheus for your whole fleet of applications and environments. As the journey “From Zero to Prometheus Hero” is not trivial you will find obstacles on the way. In this presentation we are highlighting the most common challenges we have seen and provide guidance on how to overcome them. Finally, we are discussing a solution to get you there more quickly to build automated, future-proof observability with Prometheus showing Keptn as one possible implementation." Talk #2: Open Source Panel Discussion (Disajikan dengan Bahasa Indonesia) Moderator: Iqbal Syamil, Cloud Native ID Organizer Panelist 1: Ahmad Nurus Shobah, Google Summer of Code Intern Panelist 2: Deka Aulia, Computer Science Student, Columbia University, New York Panelist 3: Dhi Aurrahman, Software Engineer, Tetrate.io Most of all critical applications in this world is running on open source software. Many open source projects are also emerged in the last decade. On this session, all panelist will share their experiences in open source tech scene, their contributions and also how they started their journey in open source. We gonna dig deeper into why open source is one of important aspect in software industry, what are the benefits of contributing to open source, and many more! ======================================================== Agenda Tuesday, Oct[masked] (all time in GMT+7 pm) 7:00 - 7:10 - Welcoming and community update 7:10 - 7:50 - Jürgen Etzlstorfer, Technology Strategist @Dynatrace. 7:50 - 9:00 - Open Source Panel Discussion 9:00 - 9.05 - Closing Hosted By Kubernetes & Cloud Native Indonesia, Community Leaders
