Traditionally, we’ve seen three main ways that WordPress is being leveraged by educators and students. First, Class Blogs -- a web presence to share daily info with students (and often with parents); Second, Professional Blogs -- blog where practicing educators share tips, ideas, and resources with others in the field; and Third, Student Blogs -- a blog where students often use it as part of class requirements – improving writing, critical thinking, and technology skills.

You’ll notice that the three most common uses of WordPress in educational field have historically all been for blogging. But, just as we see a parallel shift outside of education with the increased use of WordPress as a powerful, easy-to-use content management system, and the ability to create dynamic, information-packed websites, we’re also finding more and more creative ways of classroom and school use.

It’s our pleasure to announce we’ll be hosting Danu Widhyatmoko and his amazing team (Fikri Rasyid and Deni Tri Hartanto), from Digital Media Development (DMD) Binus University for a small, intimate chat about their recent project working on WordPress development and customization for Binus University corporate website, http://binus.ac.id

In this meetup, they will share some strategies and insights -- behind the scene -- on how their educational site achieved an incredible look and performance since its migration to WordPress platform. Originally presented at WordCamp Indonesia last October 2013 in Jogjakarta, they’re agreed to share it here on Jakarta WordPress Meetup as well.
