What we’re about
Remember that time in … Jam Camp is designed to be a learning and performance vehicle for intermediate to advanced players. The concepts we discuss and work on are applicable to any style or genre of playing. We will be using the Blues, R&B, and Blues Rock as focus material to better understand and utilize:
Foundational Musicality
Style & Genre
Song Form & Application
Discovery & Musicology
Preparation & Performance Techniques
Sessions will take specific genre’s or artist work and unravel stylistic and playing elements that can be utilized across genres. Organizers and participants will identify appropriate songs that fit the theme(s) of the sessions. As well as explore themes and variations, alternative arrangements, song forms and much in the way of improvisation and creative and musical playing.
Our goal is to meet every other week. Organizers will provide preparation materials as well as collect musical suggestions and concepts brought to the group by participants. Ideally all interested parties will have music to prepare for each session as well as music to take home with them for each session.
We will be meeting at The Learning Center in Campbell. The following equipment is provided at the center:
- PA System and Microphones
- 5 Piece Roland Digital Drum Set with Cymbals
You will need your instruments, and a small amp appropriate for rehearsals. Drummers often bring their own stool and/or snare.
Toni and I hope to see you soon.

This one is Eleven
We've had ten sessions at this point. All of them fun, and I hope, all of them rewarding for everyone in some way. Let's pick our favorites from the past sessions and build two set lists. When you sign up for this jam you'll be asked what songs you would like to revisit. If everyone pitches in a couple of songs we'll have a couple of sets in no time. We will put songs together in a suitable setlist(s) and we'll see how we handle it. Should be a lot of fun and, as always, a good workout. A nice little stretch of the fingers if you will. Please include any pertinent information in your requests as in will you be singing your choices? Will you be playing solos? Anything that helps your bandmates with preparation. Request lines will be open for a week, and a final list of songs will go out next Tuesday. LFG!Set 1
