Linda L will lead you on a three and a half mile hike through Battery Park, a neighborhood established in the late 1890's as a suburb of the city, before we enjoy the the Hardywood String Band Festival at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery RVA! This Northside neighborhood was named after a Confederate Battery. In the heart of the neighborhood is Battery Park, which includes tennis courts where Arthur Ashe learned to play. Neighborhood home styles include Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Queen Anne and Prairie Style. Our return route will take us through Virginia Union University. Then Hardywood presents the Hardywood String Band Festival, an all day celebration of amazing string music with mobile gourmet food vendors and unique beers on draft. Two stages (Main stage, Jam stage). This event is FREE, Family Friendly, and All Ages are welcome! The taps will begin flowing at 1 PM. Live music begins at 2pm with The Hot Seats performing on the Jam stage! Hardywood says this is a rain or shine event!
