NOTE on the book selection. This is our thirteenth book club hike. We selected the book because like all other books previously selected it relates to the outdoors. This one is about hiking in Europe. It is the first of two books and the reviews are really good. This guy started in his twenties in 1997 to hike from southern Italy to the top of Norway, a 7,000 mile walk into nature.
*****************CARPOOL LOCATION: There will not be an organized carpool. You'll need to either drive yourself to the trailhead or make your own arrangements to share a ride which is usually done the morning of at the meeting place. If you do share a ride suggested donation is $10 to the driver. If you want to caravan to the trailhead the meeting place is Hickory Haven Park and Ride at 2031 Ashland Rd, Rockville, VA 23146. You need to let us know if you are going to carpool.
TRAILHEAD: If you are driving straight to the trailhead the arrival time is about 10:00 am. Please let us know if you plan to go directly to the trailhead so we don't wait for you at Hickory Haven Park and Ride.
Plan is to arrive back at Carytown by 3:00PM.
It is always fun to visit the Virginia wineries. This one is the Jefferson Vineyards which is right down the road from Monticello. https://www.jeffersonvineyards.com/Visit/Plan-Your-Visit. There is some limited food, but you can also bring your own lunch. No outside alcohol.
