We plan to pack a lot of sights and sounds into this 3 mile hike. The good news is this is strictly an urban hike. There is no requirement to be able to ford a stream, or possess the ability to recognize toxic plants, negotiate rocks, roots, fallen trees, damp trail conditions, stairs, steep ascents, vines, low hanging branches, culverts, uncertain footing on hills, reptiles, spider webs, scorpions, birds of prey, or migratory waterfowl.

Meet at the Byrd Theater at 2908 W. Cary Street and take a leisurely hike of approximately 3 miles through the streets of Carytown and the Carillon area. From The Byrd we'll follow Freeman to City Stadium, cross the Powhite Parkway to the Carillon and cut through the Vita Course in Byrd Park to Robinson. North on Robinson will deliver us to Cary Street which will return us to Carytown and The Byrd.

If you are unfamiliar with the meet up location and parking availability, add a few minutes to your travel schedule so you can find us after you park.
If you don't have a clue about the location of The Byrd, click on the link to "The Byrd" located just above "How to Find Us" in the event description. An interactive map will be displayed and when "Directions" (upper left) is selected the best route from your current location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be calculated for you. Before the hike be sure to place anything that might invite theft in your trunk before you leave your car parked while you are hiking.

Participants should be able to maintain a pace of 2.5 miles per hour. On street parking is available and there are two parking garages nearby. The parking garages ar at 16 S. Colonial Ave, behind the Byrd and the other is four blocks West at 7 S. Crenshaw Ave. This is a dog friendly hike.
