The house where Patrick Henry married Sarah Shelton, the house built in the late 1600's that was home to eight generations of the Shelton Family, the house and battlefield that played an important link between the battles of North Anna and Cold Harbor that was the focus of the entire nation in May 1864 during the War Between The States. Learn the history and historic renovations of the mansion. The location of a great hiking trail that is in excellent condition. Two and one-half miles in and out with a LARGE elevation change, we will add another approximate mile in the adjoining neighborhood. This is a beautiful hike, great for all including beginners. Hiking boots/shoes recommended, bring water and snack if needed. Dogs welcome if well behaved and on leach.
