Dec 31, 10 AM ~ Oregon Hill Overlook to Hollywood Cemetery Hike

This 3.5 mile hike begins at the Oregon Hill Overlook located near the intersection of South Pine Street and Oregon Hill Parkway. This is an urban hike (yawn) that will take us by many points of interest. We'll follow Pine to Albermarle Street and enter Hollywood Cemetery. A loop around Hollywood will take us by the Iron Dog and the graves of JEB Stuart, James Monroe and Jefferson Davis among others.
We'll return to our starting point on Oregon Hill by way of the North Bank Trail.
This is a hike of 3.5 miles over developed urban pavement and sidewalks where the only hazards are the occasional uneven crack in the sidewalk or bricks that have been displaced by tree roots!. This hike will begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you need help on directions, click on the map under "How to find us" in the event description to display a larger interactive map. When you select "Directions" the best route from your current location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be calculated for you.
Participants should be able to maintain a pace of 2.5 miles per hour but the ability to negotiate rocks, roots, low hanging branches, uncertain footing on hills, bridges and toxic plants in season will be waived for this urban excursion. Just be careful with the uneven sidewalks and cobble stone streets!
There is no parking lot on Oregon Hill, but abundant curbside parking is available on one side of Oregon Hill Parkway and on South Pine and South Laurel Streets.

Water bottle, a cap, visor or bonnet, clothing appropriate for the season, aspirin. practical footwear, band aids, dry clothes for after hike activities.
