Jan. 14, 10 PM: Guess how many JRHikers we'll have on March 1, 2026

This "Meetup" is a guessing game. The question is:

How many members will James River Hikers have at 8 pm on March 1, 2026?

The winner will get a special prize from Dennis - probably a quart of apple cider and a jar of apple butter. Plus the prestige of being the winner and bragging rights of victory.

January 1, 2026 we had 5,091.

In making your guess consider that:

- We've gained about 60 new members per month for the past year.

But here's the big wild card.
Meetup corporation informed they will arbitrary delete (apparently on about January 15, 2026) those of our current 5,091 James River Hiker members who have not been "active" during the past 3 years.

By “inactive,” they mean users who have not interacted with the platform in any way — including emails, the mobile apps, or the website."

So you'll want to guess how many or our 5,091 JRH members have not been active for 3 years and therefore will be deleted.

Competitors are to submit their guess in the comment section of this meetup before 10 pm on January 14, 2026. Submissions after that date/time will be deleted and disqualified.

The winner will be determined and announced March 2, 2026.
