Moderate paced hike at 2.5 to 3 miles per hour.
We meet at the Horner Forest Trail Parking Lot on Qualla Rd. This is not accessible through the main gate.
Join us for a moderate pace 4 + mile hike on well-maintained trails in Pocahontas State Park, including a loop around Beaver Lake. There are moderate elevation changes and roots to be aware of. We will break periodically.
Due to the size of the parking lot and the fact that it's on a Saturday - attendees will be limited to 8. There is a porta-potty at the parking lot. We do start hiking at 11 am and should finish by 1 pm.
Carpooling is strongly encouraged as this parking lot has limited spaces. If anyone is interested in carpooling to this event, please leave a message in comments.
Hiking poles recommended but not required.
State parks charge a parking fee with several options.
