Jan 29, 2027, 7 PM - I met my spouse/partner/best friend etc on a JRH Meetup
Details
This "Meetup" is reserved for those who've met your spouse/partner/best friend etc on a JRH Meetup and would like to post that information for the JRH community.
It is also an opportunity to keep some members (In the above category) from being deleted from JHR as discussed below.
I'm posting this meetup today, Jan. 10, 2026 for these two reasons.
1. The Meetup company announced they will delete members who have not been active during the past three years, and they will begin doing that Jan. 15 which is five days from now. This is a way we could retain some of those members with a focus on those who became spouses/partners/best friends etc on a JRH Meetup.
Here's are two ways that can work.
A. If you are one of those couples and want to be included, post both of your names as "attending" this meetup and include a note in the comment section describing your relationship.
B. If you know of a member you'd like to recommend including, notify me via Meetup message of their JRH profile name and the circumstances. We must be supremely cautious of presenting personal information about others.
After confirming privacy and protocol issues I can post that member as "attending" this meetup. But remember we may need to do that before Jan. 15, 2026, as they may be deleted from Meetup after that.
Here is an example of a best friend of mine. Debbie Wall who over the years I was privileged to know, became one of my most trusted best friends. Debbie joined me for 36 of my early morning hikes and completed 337 JRH Meetups. Debbie and I are pictured in the profile photo of this Meetup.
Here's another way "spouse/partner/best friend" relationships can be included in this "Meetup". Simply describe it in the comments section of this meetup.
There are two dates to consider.
As we may loose many who met and married etc. from our roster of members beginning Jan. 15, there is some urgency to include them and retain their membership in JRH.
I set the end date for this "Meetup" as Jan 29, 2027, there is a full year to add couples and stories on how they met on a James River Hiker Meetup.
Feel free to contact me with questions or comments via personal email or text message.
