Apr 26, 10 AM ~ Hike From The Carillon to Texas Beach
Details
- Weather on Hike Day
- This 3.9 mile hike will follow a slightly different route today because of repairs being done on the North Bank Trail bike ramp. We will instead venture North past Fountain Lake, Swan Lake and Shields Lake in Byrd Park to the Maymont Sundial. We'll enter the Hampton Street entrance of Maymont, wind through thus colorful venue and emerge on Park Drive at the Carillon.
We will not be on the North Bank Trail due to trail repairs currently underway at the Texas Beach pedestrian crossover and the bike ramp at Hampton treet.. We will save Foushee's Mill, Charlie's Crossing, the railroad tracks and the Texas beach Trail for another day but there will be an abundance of other sights and sounds to capture your attention! As with all hikes, this one begins at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you are unfamiliar with the meet up location, add a few minutes to your travel schedule so you will not arrive at an empty parking lot (seriously). Some ability to negotiate tree roots, rustic trails, low hanging vines, toxic plants, culverts, reptiles, damp trail conditions, stairs, spider webs, fallen trees, skunks, migratory waterfowl, and river rocks is desirable. Hiking sticks are recommended though not required. Use the inset map (See "How to Find Us") in the event description get directions if you are not from here. When you select "Directions" (upper left) the best route from your location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be calculated.
